Samuel Spengler—an eccentric and self-proclaimed "ghost-hunting engineer" who operated in the early-to-mid-1800s using unorthodox methods that blended psychology, acoustics, early wave theory, and spiritualist technology.

Samuel’s extensive notes and field journals were lost in a mysterious fire, but some pages survived and were passed down through his family.

According to his notes he not only spent his days gathering “spiritual data” but also helping locals with their own "paranormal" problems. He would collect spiritual "energies & entities" and dispose of them. Methods unknown.

Local clergymen of the time knew his work and regarded him a saint despite his unorthodox methods.

Whether his larger-than-life claims are true are unknown but what is known is he was a deeply caring person, a scientific renegade, and a man of god.

He is quoted in his remaining works saying "God and the spark are one and the same. Love is the key."

His work shaped the very fabric of The Aetheric Society.

Remaining Spengler Field Notes

While more than half of his work perished in an unfortunate fire. The scorched edges of the surviving folios serve as a grim testament to the fire; where the ink fades into carbon, the true secrets of Spengler’s Aetheric resonance likely vanished forever. What has remained has become the foundation on which The Aetheric Society has based its work.

Thousands of brilliant minds have come together to study his work; his close friend Nikola Tesla once described him as "A man possessed of a mind so brilliant it threatens to illuminate the very shadows he investigates." adding that he was "pretty weird by my standards, but brilliant nonetheless."

While stationed out of Lily Dale, NY, Samuel maintained a headquarters in New York City. His operation resided in a cast-iron loft in the industrial district below Canal Street—what we now know as Tribeca.
