SUBJECT: J.L. Ashcroft - FILE# 01001100 01111001 01110010 01100001
PROJECT STARCALL: CODENAME: LYRA
Prepared and Released for [A.R.] Agents "Vega" & "Omega" Debriefing
J.L. Ashcroft (1957–??) was never meant for the public eye.
For much of his life, he existed quietly—publishing strange tales in tiny local print runs, scrawling sigils into the margins of his books, and disappearing for months at a time into the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
What the world saw as fiction, we recognized as signal.
The Aetheric Society's [O.C.S.A.] division began closely monitoring Ashcroft in the mid 70s,[1974] - following an anomalous cross-reference between his short story: “The Spark is split” and details from PROJECT STARCALL: CODENAME: LYRA — an internal operation exploring synchronized consciousness and encoded transmissions from non-local intelligence.
Ashcroft’s work showed impossible congruities with data retrieved from deep meditation protocols, encrypted dream journals, and closed-door briefings from subjects exposed to pre-conscious waveform entrainment.
We do not believe Ashcroft invented anything.
We believe he remembered.
After repeated experimentation on the subject he vanished in 1996. No trace of his body was found. Only his manuscript and notes.
In the years before his disappearance, Ashcroft became consumed with the idea that his fiction was not fiction at all. He fixated on a name—Saelari—a word that appears repeatedly in his notes beside references to strange dreams and missing time. No confirmed person or place has ever been linked to it.
After 28 years this casefile's open again and on my desk. On the [A.R]'s desk...
[Agent Omega] you are to take our new recruit - [Agent Vega] - with you to the assigned location [REDACTED], Canada.
I don't give a rats ass that you're RANK V, we need you to train the rookie.
THEO [REDACTED] must be eliminated for the good of the TIME-LINE.
Agents, do you believe in the devil?
Greater Occultum de Vasto Universum. * Pro Ordine Temporis.
